Some of SLA's Board members have just returned from the NY State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA) conference held in Lake George recently. Organizers were delighted to hold the conference in person after COVID. It was an opportunity for newer board members to learn about the following: CSLAP water testing, updated sampling protocol and also the updated data entry system, the importance of ongoing lake monitoring for both water quality and aquatic invasive species (AIS), what other lakes are doing to manage aquatic invasive species, ecology of lakes, the impact of artificial circulation devices on certain lakes, and building a framework for water quality data among many other topics. It was also an opportunity to connect with other lake associations and learn about the issues they are confronting. The conference was an interesting and very informative two days. The photo (L-R) shows Scott Ireland, President, Neil Chippendale, Secretary and Director, Ger Cox.
