Scott Ireland
PRESIDENT
Scott Ireland serves as Board President, and is also the Executive Director for the Adirondack Lakes Alliance. He has worked in scientific instrument sales for over 35 years, and has an extensive chemistry and biology background. He brings an Agile Project Management methodology to the Schroon Lake Association, which has helped with project planning, tracking and success.

Roger Friedman
VICE PRESIDENT
Roger Friedman is a native Schroon Laker. He graduated from Schroon Lake Central School in 1968 and earned his BA from Union College in Schenectady in 1972.
For 14 years after college Roger lived in Israel on a kibbutz and worked in agriculture growing bananas and specialized in irrigation systems.
He has been both a director and now VP of the Schroon Lake Association since 1992. He is an original member of the Schroon Lake Steering Committee and was on the Schroon Town Board for 28 years.
One of his primary goals has been to encourage the Town of Schroon and the Schroon Lake Association to work as partners to protect the Lake. This partnership also includes the East Shore Schroon Lake Association and many other environmental groups.

Neil Chippendale
TREASURER
Neil retired from teaching in 2016 and moved to Schroon Lake from PA. He has been active in Local affairs including the Schroon Lake Association. He played a primary role in SLA’s lake mapping project which has resulted in our new lake map available to members. Neil completed the EPA lake management course and is very involved in the Environmental Committee and Watershed Steering Committee.

Ger Cox
DIRECTOR
Ger is a retired full time resident of Schroon Lake since 2019. She joined the SLA Board of Directors in 2020. Ger worked in the pharmaceutical industry and has always been actively mindful of taking care of our environment. This led her to the SLA with particular focus on the smooth operation of the Route 74 boat wash to encourage boaters to keep aquatic invasives from Schroon and surrounding lakes. Her other interests include hike leader, paddling, terrestrial invasives monitoring, advocating for loon conservancy and local food security.

Charles Harste
DIRECTOR
Chuck first came to Schroon Lake on a part time basis. After retiring as an executive in IBM he and his wife joined SLAC, Lions Club, Seagle Colony, Marathon, Schroon Lake Centennial Committee, Town Beautification Committee, Fish and Game Club, Golf Leagues and the Schroon Lake Association. He concluded that the most important organization for the future of our area is the Schroon Lake Association. Without a healthy lake, the area would be devastated. Chuck runs the SLA Arts and Crafts Fair Silent Auction, is in charge of the SLA CSLAP water sampling done at two sites 8 times a year, and participates in other activities as needed.

Peter White
DIRECTOR
From Schenectady, Peter attended Schenectady Community College before enlisting in the US Army in 1972 for three years. He was a NYS Court Officer for 32 years in Schenectady County Family Court and Warren County Courts. He lived in Lake George before moving to Schroon Lake in 2009. Peter joined the SLA shortly thereafter and became a board member in 2016.

Marty Korn
DIRECTOR
Marty is a long-time member of SLA and a seasonal resident of Schroon Lake for the last 68 years. Marty retired from his career in Rochester, NY as an Orthopedic Surgeon, and served as Captain United States Army Medical Corps. He is a strong advocate for environmental protection and and for the transition to renewable energy sources that are clean and sustainable. Marty and his wife Phyllis treasure the beauty and quality of life in the Adirondacks.

Don Davis
DIRECTOR
Don is a registered Architect in NY and NJ. Don and his wife are Principals of SD Atelier- Architecture, LLC in Saratoga Springs. They are part time residents in the Town of Schroon Lake. Don enjoys kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking in the Adirondacks. He is a concerned citizen of the Town of Schroon and a member of the Schroon Lake Association.

Kevin Kavanaugh

Kate O'Hair
From Mt. Kisco, NY, Kate retired to Schroon Lake full time in 2019. Having spent many summers in the Adirondack Park with her family, she is proud to call Schroon Lake home. Following her career in Advertising & Marketing as an Art Director, she helps with the SLA’s communication needs. She is passionate about the preservation of Schroon Lake and is sometimes seen at the town boat launch filling in as a Lake Steward.

Ralph Ocker
EMERITUS
Ralph was born in Stuttgar, Germany. He later immigrated to Alberta, Western Canada and then to New York City where he married. Ralph founded Ocker & Trapp Library Bindery. His company was a premier provider bookbinding and conservation service to libraries in the New York Metropolitan region. Ralph and his wife Christa settled in New Jersey with their four children and spent all of their family vacations in the Adirondacks. In 2015 Schroon Lake became their permanent home. Sadly, Ralph lost his wife but he continues to embrace the life they built together overlooking Schroon Lake.

Peter Seagle
EMERITUS
Pete was educated in civil engineering and business and retired from State University of New York at Albany. Pete served as treasurer of SLA for over 40 years. He is a full-time resident of Schroon Lake.
